Japanese financial giant SBI Group has invested $25 million in dtcpay, a payments firm that provides essential crypto infrastructure. The investment is part of dtcpay's Series A funding round, which also included contributions from existing backers Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, Genedant Capital, and Kwee Liong Tek.

Dtcpay handles asset conversion and custody, offering a Visa-linked card that lets holders spend stablecoins like ordinary cash. The firm holds licenses to operate in multiple jurisdictions, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Major Payment Institution license.

SBI Group has been expanding its presence in the crypto space through strategic investments, including acquiring Singapore's Coinhako and partnering with Ripple to distribute the RLUSD stablecoin. This investment underscores SBI's broader strategy to connect Japanese capital with Southeast Asian commercial channels through fully regulated pipelines.
