Schumer Demands Crypto Industry 'Break' from Trump over Ethics Concerns
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has called out the crypto industry for its large-scale campaign spending against Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), which followed the collapse of the Clarity Act. This development is linked to a bill that would establish a market structure for cryptocurrency, with strong bipartisan ethics restrictions on former President Donald Trump.
Schumer had maintained that he wanted such a bill, but one that included guardrails preventing Trump from using his presidential authority to profit from crypto. He stated that people do not want to see Trump making money off of crypto and that the industry should 'break' with him over this issue.
The crypto industry's eight-figure campaign spending against Brown was seen as a major setback for Schumer's efforts, and he believes that if they had agreed to drop their opposition, there might have been an agreement on the bill. However, it seems that the industry has not complied with his demands.
