Schwab Crypto Expands Beyond BTC and ETH with SOL, LINK, and AVAX Additions
Charles Schwab, a Wall Street giant, has expanded its cryptocurrency trading service to include three major altcoins. The company's Schwab Crypto platform, launched in May this year with support for only Bitcoin and Ethereum, will now offer Solana (SOL), Chainlink (LINK), and Avalanche (AVAX) for eligible clients. This move marks a significant expansion of the platform's offerings beyond the two most well-known cryptocurrencies.
The new additions come as the market is experiencing a resurgence in activity, with many altcoins seeing significant gains in recent weeks. Solana has surged by over 40% in the past month, while Chainlink and Avalanche have gained 38% and 15%, respectively.
Charles Schwab clients can view and trade their crypto holdings alongside traditional investments on its website, mobile application, and thinkorswim platform. However, it's worth noting that certain geographical limitations are still in place, with the service unavailable to residents of New York and Louisiana, as well as customers in US territories and international jurisdictions.
The company has stated that support for any of the announced digital assets could be delayed, changed, or withdrawn depending on regulatory, market, operational, or risk-related developments. This suggests a cautious approach to the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency market.
