Scroll Surpasses zkSync Era in Transaction Per Second Benchmarks
Scroll's recent upgrade to its proof recursion process has given it a performance edge over zkSync Era and Polygon, at least in terms of transaction per second benchmarks. This shift is attributed to Scroll's decision to prioritize bytecode equivalence over the LLVM-based approach used by zkSync Era.
This means developers can deploy Ethereum smart contracts directly to Scroll without making changes to the execution semantics, a significant advantage for those looking to avoid audit re-validation for protocols already audited on Ethereum. Scroll supports the Cancun EVM target and Solidity version 0.8.26, as well as most precompiled contracts.
In terms of throughput, Scroll maintains a rate of 20-40 transactions per second, while zkSync Era processes between 40-60 transactions per second. However, Scroll holds approximately $800 million in total value locked, compared to zkSync Era's $2 billion.
