SEC Chair Paul Atkins is signaling support for blockchain technology in traditional finance by expressing his desire to see U.S. stock-market infrastructure move on-chain.

In a statement, Atkins noted that the broader financial system is moving toward Bitcoin and crypto, indicating a potential expansion of blockchain-based market infrastructure beyond digital assets.

The SEC has introduced an 'innovation exemption' that allows eligible trading venues to conduct on-chain trading of tokenized U.S. stocks.
