SEC, CFTC Push Ahead with Crypto Regulations
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are pushing forward with regulatory measures for the cryptocurrency sector, despite the recent failure of the CLARITY Act in the Senate.
This legislative setback does not appear to have deterred the agencies from pursuing their regulatory agendas. The SEC has already proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, and the CFTC has submitted new crypto rules for review.
The regulators' proactive stance is being interpreted by market participants as a potential source of increased uncertainty in the market.
According to market data, the odds of Bitcoin reaching $200,000 by the end of 2026 have decreased to 1%.
