SEC Clears ARK Venture Fund for Tokenized and Exchange-Traded Share Classes
The SEC has granted ARK Venture Fund amended exemptive relief to create two new share classes: an Exchange Class and a Tokenized Class.
The Tokenized Class will use distributed-ledger technology to record ownership, while the Exchange Class is designed for listing on a national securities exchange.
This marks a significant development in the space of tokenized funds, which are increasingly moving from private-market experiments into structures within established securities law.
While ARK has not announced an immediate commercial launch date for the Tokenized Class, this regulatory clearance gives it room to test whether blockchain-based ownership records can coexist with existing transfer and custody requirements.
