SEC Dumps Crypto Lawsuits to Protect Credibility
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Mark Uyeda revealed that the agency dropped its cryptocurrency-related lawsuits to protect its credibility.
According to a recent interview, Uyeda stated that continuing to defend legal interpretations in court would have undermined the regulator's credibility if they were eventually reversed.
The SEC's decision to withdraw these lawsuits reflects a shift in their approach towards cryptocurrencies and security tokens.
Uyeda described the agency's new innovation exemption framework for security tokens as 'a kind of pilot' that could offer substantial opportunities for both new market participants and traditional financial firms.
