SEC Exception Boosts XRP as Oil Prices Retreat
XRP's price surged by 8.32% in the last 24 hours as of September 18, 2026, due to a combination of factors.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provided a five-year exception for 'tokenized' stocks, which are digital versions of stocks that may eventually be traded 24/7.
This exception doesn't directly impact XRP but the market took it as a bullish sign that a key regulator is acting in Congress's absence. The Clarity Act, which would have provided a defined ruleset for such tokenized stocks, failed to advance earlier in the week.
XRP was also boosted by a decline in oil prices. Brent Crude, a benchmark for global oil prices, fell below $104 after reaching nearly $110 earlier in the week, easing rate concerns and helping investors move out of 'risk-on' assets like XRP.
