SEC Gives Tokenized Stocks the Green Light for Five-Year Blockchain Trading
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given tokenized stocks the green light to trade on blockchain platforms for five years, paving the way for round-the-clock trading in U.S. equities.
This decision came just two days after the CLARITY Act failed to clear a procedural vote in the Senate, with the SEC opting to use its existing statutory authority to advance the regulatory agenda.
The new rules require token holders to enjoy the same dividend and voting rights as traditional shareholders, while granting listed companies a 30-day veto window if they object to third-party token issuance.
