SEC Halts Nasdaq Bitcoin Options Review Amid CME Protest
Nasdaq's bid to list Bitcoin options has hit a roadblock as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) grants CME Group's request for judicial review of its previous endorsement.
The SEC will reopen its review process, allowing stakeholders to submit written opinions on the proposal by August 24, 2026.
This development comes after Nasdaq initially received SEC approval to list Bitcoin options on its spot ETFs. However, CME Group lodged a protest, arguing that this would undermine market structure and competitive fairness.
