SEC Issues Exemption for Tokenized Securities Amid Crypto Regulatory Push

Share

Federal market regulators have moved quickly to fill the gap in crypto policymaking following the passage of the Clarity Act. The Securities and Exchange Commission issued an exemption for companies to offer tokenized securities, which it referred to as its 'innovation exemption.' This move is expected to allow crypto to integrate more deeply into the traditional financial system.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission also issued a no-action letter for 'providers of passive software,' further opening up opportunities for crypto companies and digital asset software providers. The moves are seen as a boon for the industry, but may be vulnerable to reversal under a future Democratic administration.
