SEC Proposes Customized Custody Rules for Crypto Assets
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed new custody rules for registered investment advisers and regulated funds to hold cryptocurrency assets.
The proposal, released on Thursday, would allow self-custody of crypto assets under specified conditions, subject to safeguarding and audit requirements.
Chairman Paul Atkins has advocated for state-chartered trust companies as additional custodians for regulated entities.
