SEC Proposes Regulation Framework for Crypto Assets
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed a regulation framework for crypto assets in the United States. The proposal, which includes exemptions up to $75 million per year and an additional $5 million over four years, aims to provide clarity on how digital assets can be offered and traded.
The SEC's move comes after years of uncertainty following the stalling of the CLARITY Act in Congress. The proposed framework would end the security status for completed investment contracts and preempt state rules, potentially reshaping the U.S. crypto market structure.
The regulation would also require mandatory disclosures from digital asset issuers, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which could reduce state friction and increase investor confidence in these markets.
