SEC Pushes for On-Chain Stock Trading with Blockchain
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has expressed his desire for U.S. stock trading to move onto blockchain networks, citing the potential of blockchain technology to transform how stocks are traded and ownership records maintained.
This ambition follows the SEC's recent approval of a temporary framework allowing certain venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks through permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools.
The Innovation Exemption gives Tokenized Securities Venues temporary relief to trade tokenized National Market System stocks on-chain, with conditions designed to protect investors and market integrity.
