SEC Rounds Up Wall Street Heavyweights for 24/7 Trading Push
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is holding a public roundtable on September 17 to discuss the feasibility of traditional finance trading 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The roundtable features 27 attendees from major TradFi firms, including Blackrock, Nasdaq, Citadel Securities, and Robinhood. Interestingly, 18 of these companies have ties to cryptocurrency or blockchain technology.
SEC Chair Paul Atkins emphasized the importance of balancing round-the-clock trading with investor protections. He noted that expanding access while safeguarding investors is crucial for any move towards 24/7 markets.
