The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced a five-year conditional Innovation Exemption allowing eligible platforms to trade tokenized U.S. equities without standard exchange registration.

This temporary framework is designed to enable digital asset brokerages and trading platforms to support tokenized equity trading while the SEC solicits public comments to shape permanent regulatory policies for on-chain securities.

The decision opens doors for trading platforms like Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) and Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) to launch new asset offerings and capture additional trading volume.

Coinbase's shares skyrocketed 10.5% in response, while Robinhood's jumped 7.6%, reflecting the potential benefits of tokenized equities for these companies.
