SEC Unveils Framework for Tokenized Stock Trading on Public Blockchains
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken a significant step towards integrating Wall Street stocks with decentralized finance (DeFi).
A temporary regulatory framework will allow certain tokenized U.S. equities to trade using infrastructure borrowed from DeFi.
This means that tokenized stocks, which are blockchain-based representations of publicly traded companies, can now be traded on public blockchains.
The SEC's move is seen as a major breakthrough by Michael Saylor, former Strategy CEO.
