Securitize's stock surged over 10% on Thursday following the launch of tokenized versions of major U.S. equities on the Solana blockchain. The new product, called Securitize Stocks, includes tokenized shares of companies like Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla, and eight others. These tokens are backed one-to-one by actual shares and offer investors dividend and voting rights.
The tokens will initially trade during extended market hours through Securitize's registered broker-dealer platform. The company plans to expand trading to 24/7 in the future. The tokens settle in USDC on Solana, with Jump Trading providing liquidity. Additionally, Securitize is exploring broader uses for these tokenized equities, including potential support from Ripple Prime and Aave for institutional trading and collateral purposes.
This marks the second significant rally for Securitize shares this week. Earlier, the stock climbed nearly 8% after announcing a partnership with South Korean firm LG CNS to explore tokenized funds, equities, and stablecoins. Securitize shares have seen a 54% increase over the past month, reflecting growing interest in tokenized real-world assets, which have reached a value of $38.88 billion, up from $25.36 billion a year earlier.
