Securitize Stock Surges on South Korea Tokenization Partnership
Securitize Corp (SECZ) saw its stock surge nearly 8% on Tuesday after announcing a new partnership with South Korean technology firm LG CNS. The collaboration aims to develop tokenized assets and digital infrastructure for financial institutions in South Korea, which is preparing to introduce a regulatory framework for tokenized securities by February 2027.
The memorandum of understanding between Securitize and LG CNS will explore tokenized funds, stocks, and stablecoins, while also targeting opportunities across the broader Asia-Pacific market. This partnership positions Securitize to capitalize on South Korea's upcoming regulatory changes, potentially giving it an early advantage in the market.
Securitize, which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in July following a merger with Cantor Equity Partners II, has established itself as a key player in the tokenized real-world asset market. This sector has grown to approximately $40 billion, with tokenized stocks gaining traction. The market for tokenized equities recently reached about $3.2 billion, marking a 10.6% increase over the past 30 days.
Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo has suggested that even modest adoption of tokenized stocks could significantly impact crypto markets, potentially pushing the overall market valuation to $5 trillion. The company's partnership with LG CNS aligns with broader industry trends as financial institutions increasingly explore bringing traditional equities on-chain.
