SEI Price Surges 30% on Staked ETF Filing Amendment
Canary Capital's second amended S-1 filing for a Staked SEI ETF sent the token price surging over 30% in just one day, despite no product launch or exchange listing. The filing amendment was made on September 21 and listed SEI as a potential investment option for the fund, with plans to stake around 90% of its holdings.
SEI's price jumped from roughly $0.045 to touch $0.061 and briefly reached $0.063 in trading volume that surged over 200%. The filing shows Canary wants to list on Cboe BZX, with shares trading in 10,000-share creation baskets once the SEC approves the registration.
The SEI Staking ETF would offer institutional investors a return from the network itself, rather than relying solely on price swings. This is significant for smaller tokens like SEI, which has a market cap of around $476 million.
