Senate Fails to Advance CLARITY Act, Crypto Markets Face Renewed Uncertainty
The U.S. Senate's failure to advance the CLARITY Act on September 15 has left crypto markets facing renewed uncertainty.
The procedural vote ended 49-50, falling short of the 60 votes needed to move the cryptocurrency market-structure bill forward.
Bitcoin (BTC) fell 2.1% to $75,800, while XRP slid 8.3% to $1.29 and Solana dropped 4.1% to $97.4 in the hours following the vote.
Wall Street research firm Bernstein had warned that failure of the CLARITY Act could trigger a negative reaction across digital-asset markets, with analysts expecting regulators to move faster on token classification, DeFi and self-custody rules, and exemptions for token issuance.
