Senate Sets September Vote on Landmark Crypto Regulation Bill
The US Senate will vote in September on whether to advance the CLARITY Act, a landmark bill aimed at establishing a federal framework for the cryptocurrency industry. The decision was made after lawmakers failed to reach agreement before the August recess.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed a cloture motion on Saturday to begin the process of bringing the CLARITY Act to the Senate floor. The procedural vote is scheduled for September 15 at 12:15 pm ET, giving lawmakers several weeks to resolve remaining disagreements.
The move keeps the bill alive but does not guarantee passage. The legislation still needs 60 votes to advance in the Senate, meaning Republicans will need Democratic support.
