Senate Vote Looms for Crypto Transparency Act Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
The US Senate may vote on the Crypto Transparency Act next week, according to SEC member Hester Peirce. The bill has already passed the House of Representatives and was approved by the Senate Banking Committee.
The law aims to clarify regulatory responsibilities over digital assets between the SEC and the Commodity Futures Commission (CFTC). It would place significant obligations on the SEC, according to Peirce.
However, progress has stalled due to unresolved issues such as ethical provisions and stablecoin yield rules. Market participants remain skeptical about the law's passage, with a 16.5% probability of it becoming law in 2026.
