Sepolia Testnet Upgrade Sparks Gas Setting Discussion on Ethereum
The Ethereum Sepolia testnet is scheduled to undergo an upgrade on October 6. This upgrade does not affect Ethereum's mainnet, and users on mainnet do not need to take any action. The upgrade is specifically for the Sepolia testnet, which is a separate testing environment for Ethereum.
Prysm 7.2.0 and Teku 26.9.1, two popular Ethereum clients, have a default gas setting of 60 million for Sepolia. However, some operators want to propose at 200 million gas, which requires a specific setting. This setting must be applied manually by the operators.
According to the Ethereum Foundation, ETH holders have no need to move their funds in response to the upgrade. The Foundation emphasizes that mainnet users and ETH holders have no action to take for the Sepolia testnet upgrade.
