Sequans Completes Exit from Bitcoin Treasury Strategy After Selling Remaining 314 BTC
Sequans Communications, a French semiconductor company, has completed its exit from its Bitcoin treasury strategy. The company sold its remaining 314 BTC, bringing an end to a plan that began in mid-2025 when it ramped up its Bitcoin position.
The move was linked to the redemption of convertible debt in May 2026, with management stating that the company will now focus on its core cellular Internet-of-Things (IoT) and software-defined radio businesses. The Bitcoin proceeds were used to reduce debt and strengthen the balance sheet.
This is not an isolated case; at least nine companies have abandoned their Bitcoin treasury strategies in 2026, according to VanEck research. The reasons for this shift vary widely, with factors including debt repayment needs, working capital requirements, shareholder return objectives, and business-strategy changes.
