Sequans Exits Bitcoin Treasury Strategy After Selling Remaining 314 BTC
French semiconductor company Sequans Communications has completed its exit from a Bitcoin treasury strategy after selling its remaining 314 BTC. This move follows the redemption of its convertible debt in May, which allowed the company to refocus on its core cellular internet-of-things (IoT) and software-defined radio businesses.
Sequans launched its Bitcoin treasury strategy in June 2025 with a holding of more than 3,200 BTC, but began reducing its holdings less than six months later. In November, the company sold 970 BTC to redeem half its convertible debt.
The sale of the remaining 314 BTC allows Sequans to strengthen its balance sheet and eliminate its convertible debt, leaving it with no cryptocurrency holdings and only government-financed research and development obligations. This decision comes as part of a growing trend among digital asset treasury companies abandoning or scaling back their accumulation strategies in 2026 amid the crypto bear market.
