SharpLink Reports Staggering $1B Loss Amid Crypto Treasury Woes
SharpLink, an Ethereum treasury company, has reported a staggering $1.08 billion net loss for the six months ended June 30. According to its quarterly filing, most of this result is attributed to price-related accounting charges.
The company's treasury is comprised mainly of staked ETH, which makes conversion time a material part of its liquidity profile. SharpLink held $56.2 million in cash and cash equivalents at June 30, but its unencumbered crypto assets are valued at around $1.7 billion.
SharpLink estimates that it could take about 30 days to withdraw and convert a material portion of its staked ETH to cash, while the entire staking portfolio is expected to be converted in approximately 90 days.
