Shiba Inu Community Warned Over Lookalike Token Threat
A crucial warning has been issued to the Shiba Inu community regarding a potential threat from lookalike tokens. A long-time community member, Mazrael, pointed out that there are over 366 Ethereum tokens using the TREAT name and ticker.
Mazrael warned that identifying a token by its ticker alone can be misleading, as some of these tokens may not be affiliated with the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The official TREAT token exists on both Ethereum and Shibarium, but an older Ethereum token with the same name was created in January 2023.
The warning urges users to verify contract addresses before investing or interacting with a token. Mazrael also mentioned that Shibarium has been receiving silent upgrades, including the integration of x402, an open standard for internet-native payments.
