Shiba Inu Developer Ends Months-Long Silence Amid Shibarium Speculation
Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya has broken a months-long silence on X, sparking speculation about the future of Shibarium, the Layer 2 network. Dhairya's brief response, 'Yours truly,' came after an X user asked who was paying for the maintenance and updates of Shibarium. This question was raised after Ethereum Layer 2 network Blast announced it would wind down operations due to high operating costs and a lack of economic sustainability.
Blast users have until October 26 to withdraw their assets, and this development has raised concerns about Shibarium's viability. However, Dhairya's response suggests that Shibarium is not abandoned, but it does not provide any details about the funding structure or costs involved. Despite the uncertainty, Shibarium has continued to receive infrastructure attention, with recent updates and migrations to a new, more stable RPC infrastructure.
The Shibarium explorer, Shibariumscan, reports an ongoing reindexing of the chain, with 54% of blocks currently indexed. This development has sparked renewed interest in Shibarium, but it remains to be seen whether Dhairya's response is enough to alleviate concerns about the network's future.
