Shiba Inu Expands to Solana Amid Rising Memecoin Momentum
Shiba Inu (SHIB) has officially launched on the Solana network, marking a significant move that could boost its reach and liquidity. The memecoin project announced the news on X, highlighting that SHIB can now be traded within Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. This partnership comes at a crucial time, as Solana recorded a substantial $190 billion in DEX volume in Q3, up from $180 billion in Q2, indicating strong on-chain activity and liquidity. The dominance of Pump.fun, a leading memecoin launchpad on Solana, with nearly $400 million in 24-hour DEX volume, further strengthens the potential for SHIB’s growth.
The timing of SHIB’s move to Solana is strategic, given the increasing selling pressure on the token. On-chain data reveals that over 88 trillion SHIB were held on exchanges on October 3rd, with net exchange inflows exceeding 288 billion SHIB. Exchange reserves also hit their highest level since June 3rd, suggesting more tokens could soon be available for selling. The SHIB-Solana partnership may provide the necessary momentum to counteract this bearish trend.
Looking ahead, the launch could signal the start of a broader memecoin revival in Q4. The memecoin market cap surged 43% in Q3, its best quarterly performance since Q2 2025, indicating growing liquidity and risk appetite. SHIB’s price action closed Q3 with a 37% gain, outperforming Dogecoin and maintaining a sideways range around $0.000005. With Solana’s increasing liquidity and the popularity of Pump.fun, SHIB is well-positioned to attract new demand, potentially absorbing the rising exchange supply and pushing the price higher.
