Shiba Inu Expands to Solana in Major DeFi Move
Shiba Inu (SHIB), the popular meme coin, has expanded its reach by launching on Solana’s Layer-1 blockchain. Previously, SHIB was only available on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and its own Layer-2 network, Shibarium. This move, facilitated by Solana’s Sunrise protocol, introduces SHIB to Solana’s thriving decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, potentially increasing its accessibility and trading volumes.
The addition of SHIB to Solana is significant as it allows traders to access and trade the meme coin directly within Solana’s ecosystem, eliminating the need to switch platforms. This integration could boost SHIB’s turnover on crypto exchanges, although immediate volume increases are not expected. Solana is already home to several dog-themed cryptocurrencies, including Bonk Coin (BONK) and Dog Wif Hat (WIF).
Despite the 4.95% rally in the past 24 hours, SHIB’s price remains close to a key resistance level at $0.00000600. Trading volumes have not yet picked up significantly, with SHIB ranking 6th in trading activity among meme coins at $108.56 million. Key levels to watch post-integration include $0.00000627 as immediate resistance, $0.00000572 as a mid-level Bollinger Band, and $0.00000517 as a major demand area.
Currently, more traders are betting on a potential drawdown in SHIB’s price, with a slight bearish edge in futures markets. However, the overall funding rate still favors bulls. The long-term impact of this integration remains to be seen, but it marks a notable step in SHIB’s evolution.
