Shiba Inu Struggles to Find Footing Amid Down Cycle
Shiba Inu (SHIB) has been one of the most popular digital assets despite its small market capitalization of $3.3 billion as of September 28. The meme token gained attention by leveraging its presence on the Ethereum blockchain, but its price has been in a down cycle.
Despite efforts to create innovative features such as a metaverse and a layer-2 scaling solution, Shiba Inu's price has not been driven up. Other cryptocurrencies have more promising feature sets, and the token's developers' actions have had little impact on its price.
The Shib Army, Shiba Inu's community of supporters, has historically played a significant role in the token's price movement. However, even they appear to be losing interest, with the token trading 94% off its peak from almost five years ago.
Shiba Inu is currently burning its token supply, but this process may not have a significant impact on the token's price. Burning tokens can be seen as share repurchases by companies, but it does not guarantee an increase in value for existing token holders.
