Shiba Inu's Path to $1: A Supply Nightmare and 122-Year Wait
Shiba Inu, a highly speculative cryptocurrency, reached an astonishing return of 45,278,000% in 2021, turning a $3 investment into over $1 million.
However, the token has since lost 93% of its peak value due to a lack of real demand and a massive supply issue. There are currently 589.2 trillion tokens in circulation, which would result in a market capitalization of $589.2 trillion if the price were to reach $1.
To put this into perspective, the combined value of all 500 companies in the S&P 500 index is currently $69.5 trillion, and the output of the entire U.S. economy was just $30.7 trillion last year.
The Shiba Inu community is trying to get around its supply issue by 'burning' tokens, which removes them from circulation forever, but this process would take a staggering 122,750 years at the current pace and would not create any value for investors.
