Shibarium Network Switch Causes Disruption for SHIB and BONE Holders
The Shibarium network has undergone significant changes, replacing its public access points and RPC endpoints. This change was completed in stages between September 12 and September 20, 2026.
Shibarium is a self-contained layer 2 chain with its own nodes, and the old RPC endpoints are no longer active. The new RPC endpoint address is rpc.shibarium.shib.io, as stated on the official documentation at docs.shib.io.
Holders of SHIB and BONE need to update their wallets with the new network details. The chain ID remains 109, but the native currency for fees on Shibarium is now BONE, not SHIB. The block explorer has also been reindexed and is currently rebuilding around 53% of blocks.
The transition has caused some inconvenience, including missing transactions in the block explorer, which are still present in the chain. Holders can verify transfers using transaction IDs in their wallets rather than relying solely on the explorer view.
