Shibarium's Decline Sparks Concerns for Shiba Inu Price

Shiba Inu's price has been influenced more by its infrastructure than memes in recent days, according to experts. The Shibarium layer-2 chain, which was launched in 2023, has seen a significant drop in transaction activity since August 2025.

The chain processed around 1,680 transactions per day as of September 22, 2026, compared to 4.69 million in August 2025. This has led to concerns that the burn mechanism may not have enough fuel without fees from transactions.

Despite some optimism surrounding Shibarium's recent fix, its underlying reorganisation problem remains unresolved. The switch to a new RPC service is also still incomplete, which could impact the chain's functionality and user adoption.
