Shibariumscan's Indexing Snafu Causes False Alarm for Shiba Inu Holders
A sudden drop in Shibariumscan's network metrics caused concern among Shiba Inu holders on August 10, 2026. The explorer showed a transaction count of 475.39 million, down from 1.56 billion, and wallet addresses plummeted to around 71.3 million, from 269.93 million.
The community speculated that Shibarium had suffered a major technical failure or data loss on the Layer-2 chain built around $SHIB. However, it turned out that the issue was due to an indexing and data synchronization problem inside Shibariumscan's explorer, not a blockchain malfunction.
Mazrael, a Shiba Eternity advisor, clarified that the explorer had returned online but missed pieces of its usual setup, including Shibarium branding and Shibnames support. The cause of the outage was attributed to Shibariumscan's infrastructure migration from direct Hetzner hosting to Cloudflare proxying, alongside DNS and registrar configuration changes.
As of the latest update, Shibariumscan has indexed about 42% of its historical blockchain data and is still rebuilding the index. The explorer's numbers should gradually move back toward their pre-outage levels as the indexing process continues.
