Shinhan Asset Management Partners with Solana Foundation on Won-Denominated Tokenized Fund
Shinhan Asset Management, a South Korean financial institution, has partnered with the Solana Foundation and two other companies to pilot a won-denominated tokenized fund. This innovative initiative aims to bridge traditional finance with blockchain technology.
The collaboration involves verifying the technical requirements for issuing and distributing a tokenized fund. Institutional investors will be able to purchase a won-denominated ultra-short-term bond fund managed by Shinhan Asset Management in digital token form, allowing them to hold a token that mirrors the fund's value.
With the involvement of the Solana Foundation, known for its high-speed and low-cost blockchain, this project emphasizes efficiency. Etherfice, which specializes in tokenized real-world assets, will contribute its expertise in digitizing financial instruments, while Orca, a decentralized exchange on Solana, may facilitate trading or liquidity for these tokens.
This proof of concept is part of a broader trend where traditional asset managers are exploring tokenization to enhance liquidity, transparency, and operational efficiency. If successful, it could pave the way for broader adoption of tokenized funds in Asia, increasing market efficiency and accessibility.
