Shipfinex and ADI Chain Tokenize $500 Million Vessel Pipeline

Share

Dubai-based Shipfinex has partnered with Abu Dhabi's ADI Chain to tokenize a pipeline of around 35 vessels worth $500 million, as it seeks to open new financing channels for shipowners.

The tokenization will see the vessels placed in separate special-purpose vehicles, with tokens potentially representing vessel-backed credit, charter-linked income or other economic interests in individual ships.

ADI Chain's blockchain technology will provide the distribution and settlement infrastructure, using UAE dirham-, US dollar- and other currency-denominated stablecoins for primary allocations and distributions.

The partnership is still in its pilot phase, with no Maritime Asset Tokens issued publicly and the regulated issuance route still being finalized.
