Shipfinex and ADI Chain Tokenize $500M in Maritime Assets

Share

Dubai-based Shipfinex is partnering with Abu Dhabi-based blockchain platform ADI Chain to tokenize $500 million worth of maritime assets. The tokens will represent economic interests in individual ships, providing new financing channels for shipowners.

The vessels will be placed in separate special-purpose vehicles, and the resulting tokens could represent vessel-backed credit, charter-linked income, or other economic interests in individual ships. ADI Chain will provide the distribution and settlement infrastructure, with primary allocations and distributions expected to use UAE dirham-, US dollar- and other currency-denominated stablecoins.

This move is part of the growing market for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), which reached $38.1 billion in August according to RWA.xyz data. Standard Chartered forecasts that tokenized RWAs could reach $4 trillion by the end of 2028, according to Geoff Kendrick, global head of digital asset research.
