Silicon Network Shutdown Deadline Nears as $9.75M Assets Remain Locked
The Silicon Network layer 2 chain on Ethereum will shut down by December 31, 2026. Deposits stopped being accepted on September 2, and withdrawals can be made until the deadline. The network is still producing blocks, but no transactions are occurring. Approximately $9.75 million in assets remain locked on the chain.
The operators have closed the deposit direction to prevent new assets from being added before the shutdown. Withdrawals will require users to bear the gas costs themselves and keep enough ether on the chain for the process.
Network-native tokens, issued on the chain itself, cannot be bridged to Ethereum and may face liquidity difficulties. Users are advised to swap them on the chain while it still functions.
