Simple Mining Seeks to Host Bitcoin Center in Madison
The city of Madison in South Dakota is considering another bitcoin mining project after a previous one was halted. The new proposal from Simple Mining, a company based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, aims to set up a 10MW digital currency mining facility.
The facility would have units holding computer servers for mining and cloud-based computer storage. City Administrator Jameson Berreth emphasized that the project's economic benefit is the objective, with estimates suggesting it could bring about 3.5% of new revenue to the city's electric fund.
Berreth explained that the project would be interruptible in case of emergency situations, ensuring power can be used elsewhere in the grid if needed. The facility also employs a closed-loop cooling system, reducing water usage and noise levels.
