Singaporean Man Pleads Guilty in $245M Cryptocurrency Heist

A 22-year-old Singaporean man has pleaded guilty to participating in one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts in U.S. history, amounting to over $245 million.

The group, which included people from California, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and abroad, posed as representatives of Google and Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, convincing a Washington D.C. resident to give them access to his Google Drive and security codes in August 2024.

Lam used the stolen funds to buy luxury cars, rent mansions, and spend millions at nightclubs, including $569,000 on one night at a Los Angeles club.
