Six Factors Weighing on Bitcoin as Price Dips Below $68K

Crypto analyst Lark Davis pointed to six factors contributing to Bitcoin's recent price drop below $68,000. While most of these are short-term, he emphasized that the dominant driving force remains the four-year market cycle. This cycle has historically led to large drawdowns after major bull-market peaks.

The sale of 32 Bitcoin by Strategy (MSTR) for $2.5 million is one factor adding pressure, as it marked the company's first disposal since 2022. The distribution of roughly 10,400 Bitcoin from Mt. Gox has also created concerns about additional creditor distributions, which could fuel selling pressure.

Bitcoin spot ETFs have recorded 11 consecutive days of net outflows, and some investors may be rotating capital away from the cryptocurrency and toward artificial intelligence-related equities. A technical breakdown, with Bitcoin breaking below an ascending channel support line in place since February, is also contributing to the price drop.
