Socure Brings AI Identity Checks To Circle's Stablecoin Onramp
Socure, a leading provider of identity verification and fraud prevention solutions, has integrated its RiskOS platform into Circle's Arc Onramp. This integration enables users to verify their identities and make fraud decisions as they move fiat currency into USDC through applications built on Arc.
The addition of Socure's RiskOS platform adds an off-chain compliance layer that keeps identity data out of public transactions, improving onramp security and institutional adoption. The combination of traditional KYC and risk decisioning with blockchain rails bolsters stablecoin flows and protocol adoption across crypto, DeFi, and CEX use cases.
Circle's Arc ecosystem is designed for financial applications, rather than anonymous crypto experimentation, which creates a straightforward problem: how to know who the customers are and whether transactions present fraud or compliance risk. Socure's software sits in this onboarding layer, allowing an application to evaluate a user before fiat is converted into USDC and moved through the Arc ecosystem.
This integration highlights an awkward reality around institutional blockchain adoption: open networks require private identity systems. Banks and regulated financial companies generally cannot put sensitive personal information into a public ledger, so identity verification needs to happen off-chain while resulting permissions and transactions move through the blockchain layer.
