SoFi Unveils Stablecoin Settlement Upgrade with Mastercard Partnership
SoFi has made a significant move in the world of crypto banking by integrating its stablecoin, SoFiUSD, into Mastercard's settlement process. As reported on September 24, 2026, this partnership will put $25 billion in annualized volume onto a blockchain-based settlement rail.
This development marks a crucial step towards separating settlement from legacy banking rails and highlights the growing importance of stablecoin settlement in the crypto industry.
Currently, card transactions involve a four-party model, where settlements between issuer and acquirer happen through batches via ACH or wire transfers, taking one to three business days. With stablecoin settlement, this delay collapses as value moves directly on a blockchain, reducing counterparty risk and operational overhead.
