Solana and Ethereum Rally Amid Upcoming Network Enhancements
Ethereum and Solana saw significant gains last week, but both cryptocurrencies are still down for the year. Ethereum rose 10.2% while Solana surged 15.5%, with prices currently at $2,694 and $117 respectively.
The upcoming Alpenglow upgrade on Solana is expected to significantly improve transaction finality time from around 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds, making payments nearly instant. Additionally, the network will become more robust against failures, with the threshold for staked SOL increasing to 40%.
In contrast, Ethereum's next upgrade, Glamsterdam, has faced multiple delays and is now targeted for the fourth quarter. Solana funds have seen a significant influx of new investments, while Ethereum funds experienced a $140 million outflow in one week this September.
