Solana Approves Major Supply Cut Proposal Despite Close Vote

The Solana network has approved a major supply cut proposal, SGP-0002, which doubles its annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. The vote passed with 176.29 million $SOL For and 66.19 million $SOL Against, representing about 67.0% of the displayed turnout. However, when excluding abstentions from the approval denominator, support was around 72.7%

The proposal's acceptance does not immediately change the monetary schedule of Solana, but it gives validators a directional mandate to accelerate the network's path toward lower issuance. The next phase depends on implementation through SIMD-0550, client coordination, feature gating, and eventual activation.
