Solana Boosts Block Capacity to 60 Million Compute Units
Solana has upgraded its block capacity to 60 million compute units, marking a 20% increase from the previous limit of 48 million.
The upgrade aims to alleviate transaction bottlenecks during high-demand periods and meme coin surges. January's Trump and Melania meme coin launches exposed network congestion issues, prompting Solana to address these concerns.
Jito Labs CEO Lucas Bruder has proposed raising the capacity to 100 million compute units by year-end, but for now, the upgrade allows more transactions per block, reducing fees and improving user experience. Each Solana transaction consumes compute units based on complexity, with block totals previously capped at 48 million.
