Solana Bots Enjoy Nearly Threefold Trading Advantage with HumidiFi
A recent study on Solana's trading dynamics revealed a significant difference in trading outcomes for one group of bots. The research, which analyzed transactions from October to November last year, found that HumidiFi-invoking transactions had a positive wrapped SOL balance change about 62.3% of the time, compared to 21.01% for other transactions within the same cluster.
The study focused on a group of 12 addresses associated with two trading-oriented bot services on Solana. The researchers grouped these addresses into four clusters and identified three as MEV-like due to their round-trip, cross-venue trading patterns consistent with arbitrage.
Within this MEV-like cluster, the HumidiFi-invoking transactions routed heavily through Jupiter and invoked proprietary AMMs, including HumidiFi. While the researchers did not determine why these transactions performed differently, they noted that the results show correlation within this cluster, rather than causation by HumidiFi.
The study's findings suggest that participants on one chain can encounter different opportunities when their routing, infrastructure, or venue set differs. However, it is essential to note that the research did not compare retail fills, slippage, or losses, so it cannot show that public-interface users were directly harmed by this difference.
